LADY BULLDOGS GOES 1-1 IN GCAC ROUND-UP

Tougaloo, Miss. - The Tougaloo College Lady Bulldogs went 1-1 in the latest GCAC Round-up today in New Orleans.

The Lady Bulldogs, 2-4 GCAC, 3-14 overall, defeated the Lady Bearcats in straight sets before losing in straight sets to Philander Smith College. In the first game, the Lady Bulldogs downed the Lady Bearcats 25-15, 25-14, 25-23 to advance to 2-3 in conference action. Bailey Jones led the Lady Bulldogs with 6 kills. Keirstin Salley followed with 5 kills and Aaliyah Causey and Teriyana Tolbert both added 3 kills apiece for the Lady Bulldogs. Charis Peterson led the defense with 5 defensive digs.

In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs gave a valued effort to pick up the win, but efforts were unsuccessful as they fell to 2-4 in league play following the 25-10, 25-13, 25-16 loss. Bailey Jones led the Lady Bulldogs with 4 kills followed by Aaliyah Causey and Kierstin Salley with 3 kills apiece. Tyneisha Reeds led the defense with 7 defensive digs.

The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up its 2021 campaign this week with a home finale vs LeMoyne Owen College on Monday at 5 P.M. and the final GCAC Round-up vs Fisk University and Dillard University on Saturday in New Orleans.
