Lady Bulldogs Top Grambling in Five Sets
Grambling, La. - The Tougalo Lady Bulldogs traveling to Grambling, La. seeking revenge on the Lady Tigers of Grambling State University after the first meeting between the two schools where the Lady Tigers were victorious over the Lady Bulldogs 3-1 in the Dawg Pound. This meeting the Lady Bulldogs were successful in their revenge; outlasting the Lady Tigers 3-2 (11-25, 28-26, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13).
The Lady Bulldogs are now on a 4-game winning streaking after taking down Division I foe Grambling State University tonight in the Assembly Center. The Lady Bulldogs started off very slow, losing the first set 25-11. With the Lady Tigers thinking they will repeat the first meeting for a sweep, the Lady Bulldogs came back out of nowhere to take the next two sets 28-26 and 25-22 to take a 2-1 edge. The Lady Tigers did not give up easy, forcing the game into a deciding set with a 25-17 fourth set victory. The deciding set was a dog fight, but it was the Lady Dawgs that reigned supreme to pick up the 15-13 set win and 3-2 match victory.
The Lady Bulldogs were paced by Carolyne Edwards with 13 kills and Megan Besecker with 12 kills. Kayla Cole led the defense with 25 digs. Alexandra Jwainat follwed with 21 digs to add to her 38 assists and Taylor Kangethe had 19 digs. The win puts the Lady Bulldogs at 8-6 overall on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday as they seek revenge on conference foe Edward Waters College. First whistle is set to blow at 1:00 P.M.
