Lady Bulldogs Fall Short to Grambling
Tougaloo, Miss. - The Tougaloo Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Tigers of Grambling State University tonight in their 2017 home opener. The Lady Bulldogs fell in the opener 3-1 (25-20, 12-25, 19-25, 20-25).
After going 1-3 on the road in the Mack Attack Volleyball Classic hosted by Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL, the Lady Bulldogs returned home looking to upset Division SWAC foe Grambling State. The Lady Bulldogs looked good early in the match, taking set one 25-20. In the second set, however, the Lady Tigers dominated the Lady Bulldogs; holding them to only 12 points to win the set. In the third and fourth sets, the Lady Bulldogs looked impressive, but the Lady Tigers came out on top winning the sets 25-19 and 25-20 to take the match 3-1.
Carolyne Edwards (JR/Southaven, MS) and Megan Besecker (JR/Liberal, KS) paced the Lady Bulldogs with 9 kills apiece. Saije Bady (SO/Baton Rouge, LA) had 10 assists and Kayla Cole (JR/Southaven, MS) led the defense with 16 digs. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Little Rock, AR on September 1st and 2nd to play in the Philander Smith Classic. They will take on Lyon College (12:00 p.m.) and Philander Smith (4:00 p.m.) on Friday and Central Baptist (9:00 a.m.) and Williams Baptist (11:00 a.m.) on Saturday.
