Tougaloo's Kayla Cole Grabs Third GCAC Honor
NEW ORLEANS (GCAConf.com) - The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced its volleyball Players of the Week on Monday, with Tougaloo's Kayla Cole earning her third Defender of the Week award in four weeks. Dillard University duo of freshmen Corneisja Harrison (Attacker of the Week) and Ma-Kayla Johnson (Setter of the Week) captured the other individual awards.
GCAC Defender of the Week: Kayla Cole (SO, L/DS, Southaven, Miss.)
Cole earns Defender of the Week honors for the third time this season after averaging 23 digs in two matches last week. Her 28 digs against SUNO were one off of her career-high. In a five-set victory over Edward Waters, she had 18 digs and served up a career-high with four aces against the Lady Tigers. She ranks second in the GCAC in both digs/set (5.0) and total digs (219).
