Lady Bulldogs Drop Season Opener to Rust

Tougaloo, Miss. - The Tougaloo College Lady Bulldogs opened their 2017 season tonight in the Dawg Pound as they hosted Rust College. The Lady Bulldogs fell short to the Lady Bearcats 66-62.

In what was expected to be an easy season opener for the Lady Bulldogs turned out to be a nightmare as the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Bearcats. At halftime, the Lady Bearcats took a controlling 33-17 lead over the Lady Bulldogs. In the 3rd quarter, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Bearcats 27-14, but it would not be enough to claim the victory.

Montoria Atkinson posted her first double double of her senior year with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Rashonae Rice followed with 16 points and Debraia Bell chipped in 10 boards for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Monday as they host Louisiana State University Shreveport. Game time is set for 6:00 P.M. in the Dawg Pound.
