LADY BULLDOGS DROPS SEASON OPENER TO LADY CRUSADERS
Tougaloo, MS-The Lady Bulldogs opened its 2014-15 season on Thursday night as they hosted the Lady Crusaders of William Carey University here in the Dawg Pound. The Lady Bulldogs dropped a 61-40 decision to the Lady Crusaders to fall to 0-1 on the season.
With the Lady Bulldogs rebuilding with 7 new players, 5 of which are freshmen, the Lady Bulldogs went into the contest very optimistic. The Lady Bulldogs would struggle from the beginning, as William Carey scored 13 points before the Lady Bulldogs would score their first point. The Lady Bulldogs continued to struggle throughout the night, as they would go into halftime down 30-19.
During the second half, the Lady Bulldogs would try to build some type of offense, but they continued to struggle and as a result, the Lady Crusaders walked away with the 61-40 victory. Junior center Janairrika Bland led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard Re'Yada Stinner followed with 11 points and Freshman forward Montoria Atkinson tacked in 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on November 11th, as they host Blue Mountain College. Game time is set for 5:30 P.M in the Dawg Pound.
