LADY BULLDOGS UPSETS DIVISION I JACKSON STATE
Jackson, MS-The Tougaloo College Women's Basketball team traveled across town to take on Division I SWAC Jackson State University. The Lady Bulldogs would upset the D-1 Lady Tigers 89-83 in the exhibition contest.
In the last meeting of the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Tigers, the teams split in regular season home and home contests. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Tigers in the Dawg Pound and the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bulldogs at the AAC. This year, the Lady Bulldogs were looking to upset the Lady Tigers once again. Lady Bulldogs' head coach Yolanda Cartlidge let the Lady Bulldogs alose and the Lady Bulldogs handled business. Early in the first half, it was all Portia Craft, as she would lead the way for the Lady Bulldogs. She would lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 46-37 halftime edge over the Lady Tigers.
In the second half, the Lady Tigers would try to fight their way back to a victory, but the Lady Bulldogs were just too tough for the Lady Tigers and the Lady Bulldogs would grab the upset victory. Craft would lead all scorers with a game-high 33 points. Chasity Kearney followed with 25 points and 13 rebounds and Re'Yada Stinner chipped in 18 points.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on November 12th as they face off against crosstown rival Belhaven University. Game time is set for 5:30 P.M. in Rugg Arena.
