Jones, Lewis Selected GCAC Runners of the Week
Tougaloo, Miss. - The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced its runners of the week today for the week ending on October 8th. Tougaloo's Jeriell Jones and Chesha Lewis received the men's and women's cross country awards for this week.
Jones, a freshman from Itta Bena, Miss. is selected men's cross country runner of the week for his performance on Saturday at the Watson Ford Invitational hosted by Mississippi College. Jones led the Bulldogs, crossing the finish line first with an overall finish of 42 out of 67 runners with a time of 31:03 in the 8k race. Since his debut, Jones has finished first for the Bulldogs in every race. He is looking very favorable to place in the Top 10 in the conference meet scheduled for October 20th at Choctaw Trails.
Lewis, a senior from Jackson, Miss. is selected women's cross country runner of the week for her performance on Saturday as well at the Watson Ford Invitational. Much like Jones, Lewis led the Lady Bulldogs, crossing the finish line first with an overall finish of 50 our of 68 runners with a time of 33:32 in the 6k race. Lewis has finished first for the Lady Bulldogs in every race this season.
