BULLDOGS FALL IN OVERTIME THRILLER IN HBCUAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tougaloo College men's basketball team came up just short in a thrilling championship battle, falling 84–81 in overtime to Southern University at New Orleans in the title game of the HBCU Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament.
In a game that featured multiple momentum swings and intense action down the stretch, the Bulldogs fought hard but were unable to hold off SUNO in the extra period.
Tougaloo was led by Tyler Hudson, who delivered a standout performance with a career-high 21 points, keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance throughout the contest. Antonio Patterson added 19 points, continuing his strong play throughout the tournament, while Willie Anderson chipped in 11 points to round out the Bulldogs' double-figure scorers.
Jordan Ealey made a strong impact on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds to help Tougaloo battle in the paint against the Knights.
For his consistent performance during the tournament, Antonio Patterson was named to the HBCUAC All-Tournament Team, recognizing his key contributions in leading the Bulldogs to the championship game.
Despite the tough loss, Tougaloo's season continues. The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the national stage as they await Thursday's selection show for the NAIA National Tournament, where they will learn their opponent for the first round.
The Bulldogs look to regroup and carry their momentum into the national tournament as they prepare for postseason play.
