EARL SANDERS INDUCTED INTO THE COLLEGE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME
The Bulldog family proudly celebrates Head Baseball Coach Earl Sanders on his induction into the prestigious College Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the 18th class. Sanders, along with his fellow honorees, was recognized at the 2026 Night of Champions held in Overland Park, Kansas, on February 12, 2026.
Sanders' legacy in college baseball began long before his success in the dugout. A standout two-way player for the Jackson State Tigers from 1984–1986, he established himself as one of the most dynamic players in the country. In his final season, Sanders earned the rare distinction of being named SWAC Hitter of the Year and SWAC Pitcher of the Year — a testament to his dominance on both sides of the ball.
During his stellar collegiate career, Sanders compiled a remarkable .404 career batting average, blasting 20 home runs and driving in 145 RBIs. On the mound, he posted an outstanding 19–3 career record with 173 strikeouts over 166 innings pitched. His leadership and performance were instrumental in guiding the Tigers to a SWAC Championship and a berth in the 1986 NCAA Regionals.
Following his junior season, Sanders was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, further solidifying his place among the elite players of his era.
Today, Sanders continues to impact the game, serving in his 12th season as head coach of the Bulldog baseball program. He was instrumental in re-establishing the program in 2003 and has dedicated himself to building a culture of excellence, discipline, and championship standards. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs have not only competed at a high level but have also developed young men who excel both on and off the field.
This Hall of Fame honor recognizes not only Sanders' incredible achievements as a player but also his lasting contributions to the sport as a coach and mentor. His induction stands as a proud moment for Bulldog Nation and a testament to a career defined by excellence, perseverance, and impact.
Congratulations, Coach Sanders, on this well-deserved honor. Your legacy continues to inspire generations of student-athletes.
