CARTER NAMED FAR OF THE YEAR FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Tougaloo, Miss.-The HBCU Athletic Conference, formerly known as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, announced its year-end administrators of the year for 2023-2024. Tougaloo's Alvin C. Carter was tabbed the Faculty Athletics Representative of the Year for the second consecutive year.
As the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), Mr. Carter plays a pivotal role in making sure student-athletes are in compliance with eligibility requirements and approves the certification of student-athletes. Also, he works tirelessly to help student-athletes excel in the classroom.
In addition to serving as the FAR, Mr. Carter also serves as the Champions of Character/Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coordinator. Under this umbrella, Mr. Carter has been instrumental in assisting the Tougaloo College Department of Athletics to continue striving for excellence on and off the court. Each program under Tougaloo College Athletics has participated in various activities promoting and supporting the 5 Core Character Values of Champions of Character. Some of the activities included: Read Across America (Dr. Seuss Day), Champions of Character Discussion during Fellowship of Christian Athletes, College Fairs at local Middle and High Schools, Community Clean Up Events, Local Food Drives, Voter Registration, Water Drives, etc.
Mr. Carter will serve as the last GCAC FAR of the Year, as the conference has rebranded and is now officially the HBCU Athletic Conference.
